Abundance Mindset

“…to believe that the world is full of enough resources and time for you to accomplish your goals.” is a quote from Stephen Covey, business author. The first time I heard this phrase, it resonated with me. Placing people above projects is one of the tenets of my business practices.

One question I receive from customers time and time again is, “How did you decide to begin a baking business?” Quite frankly, it was the next natural step to what I had been already doing for years and years. From working part time in a bakery, to organizing and serving food for many hungry teens, baking hundreds and hundreds of baked goods for church functions, being the head of the hospitality committee for the local MTNA (Music Teacher’s National Association), helping friends come up with their coffeeshop menu, to baking and cooking for several beautiful brunches, dinner parties, and weddings, I have been in the food “business” for several decades.

Apart from my job, all of these opportunities were ones of service to others. When people steadily began asking to purchase my baked goods, I knew it was time to officially start a business, and the Rachel Mae Bakes facebook page was created in November of 2017. A few years later when I decided to pursue 100% Organic Sourdough, I found a unique niche that has exploded by leaps and bounds over the last 18 months!

Some of the ways I personally choose to implement the Abundance Mindset are: donating baked goods to charities I support, surprising loyal customers weekly with free organic baked goods, giving away sourdough starter for FREE, passing out free advice and answering sourdough questions, and several others. In fact, I have actually lost customers due to their becoming successful sourdough bakers themselves after I have been privileged to provide starter and helpful encouragement! It it really is not a business model that should work. However, I have seen time and time again that when one customer moves on to their achieve their own sourdough success, THREE more customers move it to take their place. It pleases me to confidently make the statement that Every single one of my customers has come and continues to come to me organically (no pun intended☺️). Word of mouth is powerful, and my customers have been lavish with sharing my content and telling their friends that they need to try out my baked goods. The high percentage of repeat customers encourages me to persevere even on the hardest of days.

Giving back to all of the many wonderful customers who faithfully patronize my business is a priority to me. Cultivating a generous mindset will continue to be at the forefront of what I do. I will continue to practice this principle as Rachel Mae Bakes experiences steady growth. I commit to keeping the Abundance Mindset at the forefront of WHY I do what I do. Thank you for trusting me to provide your Organic Sourdough Baked Goods. You all are truly a gift to me and my family, and I am honored to have this opportunity to serve my wonderful customers.
